Monday - Covid Alert + Producer Session

"Good news, everyone!!!

We can't go into university today because a member of the blue team is infected with Covid-19"

"Professor, how is that good news?"

That was pretty much this morning summed up. I am really annoyed that we are going to miss the photography sessions and our practical filming session :(

Although, this is a solid learning experience because during our last shoot we did not adhere to social distancing rules, so it kind of serves us right. Well, I suppose I can get out with some of my work whilst I wait to hear what the plan is for the blue team.

Ah, we have an online session this afternoon anyway!

Lucy got back to me about my recce!

She said "Yes you have done it right!

It is well structured and easy to read and you have obviously thought about the shooting day and what may affect it.

Try to use a recce checklist next time so you don't miss anything and think about the surrounding areas such as van car parking and security as well as just the location

Well done"

So, I will get to work on adding this missing info. I knew that I was missing something so I am glad that I now know what I need to do.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The online session was with Lucy so now I know what else I can do for her. We need to do a risk assessment, once again I sort of feel like I have an unfair advantage because I worked in a school for years and wrote risk assessments all the time. I know they're different because it's for a film set but still they are formatted the exact same way.

Oh but I did learn something new! I asked Lucy the question that I had been wondering about since I last saw her "Who does the script breakdown exactly? Because I feel like it would make sense for it to be a meeting with the heads of departments"

and the answer is... the producer does the main one but each head of the department will do one for their department and then the producer will look over all the notes from each department to make sure that nothing has been missed.

Just did the risk assessment real quick. I think I'll finish the recce tomorrow. Also, a bunch of my books just arrived. I am very excited to read the guide to being the first AD.
