Second Day of Online Lectures
Our second day of online learning, once again the day was broken into two lectures, however, they were quite a bit shorter than the previous day's lectures which I think actually made them easier to engage with. The first lecture was with Harry Stafford. He mentioned that we should be keeping a learning log which is essentially what this blog is, so that is good. He gave us some notes on academic writing.
I learned the differences between an essay, a report and a learning log.
An essay is a piece of academic writing and all thoughts must be visualised with the written word alone. NO PICTURES! Havard Referencing is a must! (I am nervous about the referencing, I am going to write a practice essay). You must write in a formal manner and with correct terminology. An essay is making an argument.
A report is similar to an essay but pictures and diagrams are allowed! A report is written to a particular audience and for a clear purpose.
A learning log is essentially a diary that keeps track of your academic development.
Being completely honest, this is the part of the course I am scared of. It has been so long since I was in education and I am scared that I have lost my writing ability. But, if I buckle down and study then I should be okay.

The second lesson was with Jean Claude and he introduced us to PAD. Which is believe stands for Professional and academic development. Anyway, he introduced us to unit 4, the main goal of which appears to be to write a script. He has given us two assignments
1. Visualise our learning journey
2. Write a logline/title
I am lucky because I have already done the second one. However, I need to visualise the learning journey. Jean Claude mentioned that we can write or draw a picture. I think I shall write a small piece on it and use a poster that I'll make on photoshop to visualise it.
