Tuesday - Art session
Today we had a very long lecture with a professional who works in the art department. She taught us about the roles in the art department in addition to teaching about things such as "Hero props". I learned that a hero prop is a more detailed version of a prop that will be used for close-ups etc.
She also taught us how to make a prop list and how to do a scene by scene breakdown.
Her four steps were
- Read the script and become familiar with the story, setting and characters.
- Read the script again and highlight any scene headings, highlight any props, highlight any hand props.
- Read the script again and make notes in each scene. Pay extra attention to anything that will require additional work. Look out for stunts such as falls and trips as you must provide a crash mat. Look out for blood as you must contact the HOD of makeup etc.
- Make the prop list.

We were asked to create a prop list and scene by scene breakdown for a script that we had been given. Here are my attempts;

We've been given our first practical assignment! Build a miniature set for next Tuesday! So, I have already chosen my set - The Red Room from Twin Peaks.
I'm going to need to research the red room to really figure out what this is going to entail but I am excited! This should be really fun!

Feedback from JC about my report! I asked him what grade does he think I am going to get based upon my report and also if we could discuss my new idea in further detail as I feel as though something is missing from the story! He replied!
"Yes,
let’s have a discussion tomorrow Wednesday during the session - it would be
good to tap the brains of your colour group peers.
You’re
heading for a 70 or 80+!"
A 70 or an 80!!! That's a first! I am so happy!
